Dear Editor-

The recent mutual admiration encomium of English-speaking culture by Mssrs. Obama and Cameron is a not-so-subtle soliloquy of self-satisfaction in need of political perspective (Op-Ed A special relationship endures March 13). It is worth remembering that it is Britain's various questionable diplomatic exercises in nation-building that now give the world our current flash points of Pakistan, Irag, and Israel. Islamic Pakistan was created whole cloth by the British in 1947 from a partitioned India. The Kingdom of Iraq was created by the British at the Cairo Conference of March 1921. And Israel was of course the by-product of the British Balfour Declaration of 1917. Let the fish-and-chips fall where they may, because with friends like the British who really needs enemies?
